I have recently upgraded a database to Oracle 19c with latest patches applied (APRIL 2020) 19.7.0.0.200414 ….as you know by now Oracle 19c is the long-term release.
After editing and committing the SQL transaction on an Oracle Spatial Table using ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Applicaiton….the following errors were thrown to the end-user:
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
ORA-00603: Oracle server session terminated
ORA-00600: internal error code arguments[6006],[1],[]
ORA-13199: Spatila index commit Failure
Process ID: 90662
Session ID: 392 serial number: 27690
Solution:
This is a bug and you will need to download and apply the patch from Oracle Support.
Patch 29789911: ORA-13199: SPATIAL COMMIT FAILURE
*** Updated August 6 2020: The patch 29789911 is already included in 19.8 RU so there is no need to apply one-off-patch just apply latest RU
Hi Emad,
Could you share the version of Geodatabase and did the error occurs even after
apply the patch of esri for 19c?
https://support.esri.com/en/download/7734
Hi Reda,
Faced this error with Oracle 19c with ArcSDE 10.6.1 , the esri patch you are referring to is fixing “different” Oracle spatial issues than the bug faced and described in my blog post.
so basically its different bug and requires “Oracle database” patch. of course, you always need to apply the latest patches from esri ArcGIS and Oracle !
i have personally applied this esri patch on ArcGIS Desktop https://support.esri.com/en/download/7734 before upgrading the geodatabase.
hope this helps
Great point will add it to the Plan of upgrade in shaa Allah.
Thanks for sharing this valuable information Emad.
